The Port's Technology Advancement Program has invested $15 million over the next ten years to fund innovative technologies like the first electric drayage truck, the first hybrid tugboard, and the first REGEN Flywheel for rubber tired gantry cranes. The first All-Electric Drayage Truck prototype was funded by POLA and AQMD. A manufacturing plant for the truck was sited in LA.POLA will have 15 berths ready to provide electric power by 2012The $2 billion Clean Air Action Plan addresses all port-related emission sources (ships, trains, trucks, terminal equipment and harbor craft) to significantly reduce health risks posed by air pollution Plan will reduce air emissions at the port by 45% by 2011
