Did you know that the Port is investing in Innovative Maritime Technologies?

 

  • The Port's Technology Advancement Program has invested $15 million over the next ten years to fund innovative technologies like the first electric drayage truck, the first hybrid tugboard, and the first REGEN Flywheel for rubber tired gantry cranes.
  • The first All-Electric Drayage Truck prototype was funded by POLA and AQMD. A manufacturing plant for the truck was sited in LA.
  • POLA will have 15 berths ready to provide electric power by 2012
  • The $2 billion Clean Air Action Plan addresses all port-related emission sources (ships, trains, trucks, terminal equipment and harbor craft) to significantly reduce health risks posed by air pollution
  • Plan will reduce air emissions at the port by 45% by 2011
